I do very little b&w or color-toned work myself but start to wonder why when I see something like this. As the previous Comments, discarding the color releases so much detail to the eye.

Although I am a colour fan, I prefer this one. The lack of colour allows the eye to be let down the path rather than be distracted by colour.
